Bushlands Game Lodge
Resort overview
Surrounded by 300 000 acres of national parks, including Hluhluwe/Umfolozi, Mkuze, St Lucia and Sodwana Bay, the Bushlands Game Lodge self-catering units offer top class accommodation. Furnished in rich fabrics and sumptuous decor, these are truly beautiful units. All main bedrooms are en-suite, and the kitchens are fully equipped for 6 people. Each unit has its own private braai, and those who don't feel like cooking may dine at the a la carte restaurant, which has a splendid menu featuring venison and other South African dishes. Booking is essential.
Wild life, wandering freely on this sand forest property, is abundant. Commonly seen from the patios outside the units, are ostrich, giraffe or buck, meandering past to the water hole. The game drives in the nearby reserve are an adventure, and the guides go beyond the call of duty to make sure that guests leave with exciting memories.
This, coupled with the evenings at Bushlands are a sublime experience. Burning torches light the path along a wooden walkway, opening up to reveal a large circular fire pit in a rustic boma. During the hot summer days, the swimming pool is a welcome respite, and weather permitting, meals are served on the terrace. A definite holiday must, even for our locals who believe they have seen all that Africa has to offer.
